Add Splash Guardįrom above, push the rubber splash guard into the sink flange. Connect Discharge TubeĬonnect the disposal’s discharge tube to the house’s remaining drain line pipes. Rotate the mounting ring so that the three mounting tabs lock into place over the corresponding ridges on the slides on the mounting assembly. If you are working by yourself, raise the disposal with a scissor-style car jack. Lift the disposal, then hang the disposal’s three mounting tabs to the three slides on the mounting assembly. Have an assistant help you with this step. Make sure that the tube is pointing downward. Use the two bolts and the supplied gasket to attach the tube. Attach Discharge Tube to Disposalīefore installing the disposal, attach the disposal tube to the side of the disposal. Tighten the three screws against the backup flange. Open the metal snap ring by hand to widen it, then snap it into place. Add Mounting Assembly Componentsįrom below the sink, add the following to the threaded flange, in order: Peel away the excess putty with a fingernail. Form a circle to fit around the bottom (thread side) of the new flange. Add New Flangeīetween your hands, roll out a 1/2-inch thick strip of new plumber’s putty. Clean the existing plumber’s putty from the sink drain hole with your fingers or the putty knife. Remove Flangeįrom above the sink, pry the sink flange up. Remove all of the remaining below-sink parts except for the sink flange. Use the screwdriver to pry off the wire snap ring. Under the sink, use the flathead screwdriver to loosen the screws on the bottom of the current mounting assembly. Insert the current unit’s S-shaped wrench (if available) or a similarly sized Alen ring into the side of the mounting ring and turn. If a dishwasher is attached to the disposal, disconnect this, as well. Disconnect Hoses and Pipesĭisconnect the drain trap from the current disposal’s waste discharge tube.
Unplug the existing garbage disposal from the outlet below the sink.
